Our Team
Brandon Gettleman
Founding Member
Brandon is an orthopaedic surgery resident at the University of California, Los Angeles. He earned his bachelor’s degree in health sciences with a minor in leadership studies from Chapman University, where he also played football. After growing up in California, he completed his medical degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. His work with Curing Kids Cancer and the founding of Future Leaders in Medicine began during his first year of medical school in 2020. In his free time, he enjoys sports and spending time with his wife and their two dogs, Bella and Bear.
Brett Biedermann
Founding Member
Brett is an orthopedic surgery resident at the University of Colorado. He graduated with an undergraduate degree in athletic training before pursuing a master’s in the same field. He then went on to work in professional hockey and Olympic volleyball. He has been fortunate to work with Curing Kids Cancer since his 1st year of medical school and led the development of the Los Angeles event. In his free time, he enjoys playing ice hockey, mountain biking, and skiing.
Sarah Hall Kiriluk
Founding Member
Sarah is a Captain in the United States Army and a current Orthopaedic Surgery Resident at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. She graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia in 2025 and received her undergraduate degree in Dance at the College of Charleston. She has thoroughly enjoyed her time working with Curing Kids Cancer and looks forward to continuing this relationship as her career progresses.
Kirklen Peterson
Founding Member
Kirklen Petersen is an anesthesiology resident at Virginia Commonwealth University. She earned both her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Her involvement with Curing Kids Cancer spans over a decade, beginning during her time on the university’s equestrian team. Throughout the years, she has contributed to a variety of projects with the organization and looks forward to continuing the partnership in the future. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors, playing soccer, and walking her dog.

Sarah Miller
Wisconsin Leader
Sarah is a 4th-year medical student at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She earned her undergraduate degree in biology, with a minor in health and the humanities, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Next year she will be pursuing residency training in internal medicine with the goal of specializing in hematology/oncology. She began her work with Curing Kids Cancer during the inaugural Wisconsin run in 2023 and has been leading the organization of the run ever since. In her free time Sarah enjoys running, hiking, and exploring the many coffee shops of Milwaukee.
