I was inspired to join the CKC mission because…
My involvement with Curing Kids Cancer was inspired by hearing Gráinne’s story about Killian and her passion for directly funding the doctors developing life‑saving cures. I strongly believe in supporting organizations like CKC that prioritize getting resources to the researchers and clinicians on the front lines, rather than diverting an outsized share of funds to administrative overhead.
The most impactful thing about serving on the CKC Board is…
Directly funding the doctors and medical centers who are doing the research and seeing those brilliant men and women develop cures and save lives.
One thing I wish more people knew about childhood cancer research is…
Most childhood cancers are biologically different from adult cancers—and they’re often treated with adult drugs not designed for growing bodies. Because pediatric cancers are rarer and driven by different genetic mechanisms, they don’t attract the same research funding or pharmaceutical investment as adult cancers. It is esimated that only about four percent of U.S. federal cancer research funding is directed toward childhood cancer, despite cancer being the leading disease-related cause of death in children.
