Lakeview Community Rallies to Raise More Than $31,000 for Childhood Cancer Research

The Lakeview community came together once again on July 18 for the third annual Curing Kids Cancer Fire Truck Pull, raising more than $31,000 to advance innovative childhood cancer research. Fourteen teams filled downtown Lakeview with energy, friendly competition and a shared commitment to making a difference for children and families facing cancer.

Held in honor of River Lou Opper, the event continues to celebrate the life and legacy of a little girl whose impact reaches far beyond her hometown. Inspired by River Lou’s memory, Curing Kids Cancer Program Specialist Madalynn Opper has helped grow the Lakeview Fire Truck Pull into an event that brings neighbors, local businesses and supporters together each year to turn hope into action.

“This event is a reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together for something bigger than themselves,” said Madalynn. “Seeing so many people show up to honor River Lou while helping fund research for children fighting cancer is incredibly meaningful.”

With more than $30,000 raised this year alone, the Lakeview community continues to prove that every pull, every donation and every participant helps move childhood cancer research forward.
