Curing Kids Cancer Golf Classic raises more than $388,000
Atlanta, GA – May 9, 2016
The 11th annual Curing Kids Cancer Golf Classic presented by AT&T, held at The Manor Golf and Country Club on Monday, May 2, was an overwhelming success in taking one more step towards fighting childhood cancers. With special guests including College Football Hall of Famer Randy Cross, college football journalist and analyst Tony Barnhart, former PGA professional Carl Paulson, and University of South Carolina's Men’s Golf Coach Bill McDonald, the day was filled with tee shots and fundraising.
Golfers enjoyed a picture-perfect day of golf at The Manor’s pristine course, and more than 150 golfers and guests ended the tournament back at the golf clubhouse for a program which included silent and live auctions, music by sister duo Winfield’s Locket, and an emotional thank you by special guest speakers Jake and Tara Bailey, parents to 2-year-old Maylin, a childhood cancer survivor.
Curing Kids Cancer would like to thank all of the tournament’s corporate sponsors including AT&T, Huawei, PureTalk, WNC, Kyocera and Altiostar. For a complete list of supporters, please visit the tournament website. CKC would also like to recognize Garrett Popcorn, Kendra Scott, Zaxby’s, and Star 94.1 FM for their generous support of the event.
Special thanks to Mecum Auction's head auctioneer Mark Delzell for leading a lively auction and the call-to-fund donation portion of the evening. Tournament guests came together and raised more than $30,000 in ten minutes for multiple pieces of lab of equipment needed for the pediatric cancer research lab at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Overall, more than $388,000 was raised from the tournament, benefiting the most innovative and leading pediatric cancer research and treatments in North America.
