Levi McMellian honored with the Inaugural Curing Kids Cancer Outstanding Fundraiser Award
May 4, 2015
Levi McMellian, CPA, chief executive officer and executive director of CFO4Life, has been honored with the inaugural Curing Kids Cancer Outstanding Fundraiser Award for raising almost $500,000 for Curing Kids Cancer. He received this award at the Curing Kids Cancer VIP Dinner in Alpharetta, Georgia on May 3.
"Levi has worked tirelessly since 2008 growing the fundraising aspect of his annual CFO4Life golf tournament which benefits Curing Kids Cancer,” said Grainne Owen, founder and executive director of Curing Kids Cancer. “By the end of 2014 Levi's efforts had raised close to half a million dollars in total and will easily surpass that milestone in this year!”
According to Owen, this has enabled Curing Kids Cancer to fund the revolutionary pediatric cancer research of Dr. James Amatruda at UT Southwestern in Dallas.
“Dr. Amatruda has broken new ground with his use of zebra fish to research Ewing's Sarcoma, a bone cancer in children,” said Owen. “He has been so successful he is now asked to speak about his work at conferences all over the world. His work is having an impact on finding new childhood cancer treatments internationally, not just here in the USA. This has been made possible by Levi's efforts to help Curing Kids Cancer fund childhood cancer research. Levi is not just our hero but he is a hero to all the children and families we are able to help. We are so thrilled to be able to recognize everything he does for children with cancer!"
Following graduation from the Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in business and accounting, Levi McMellian moved his family to Dallas to pursue an accounting career. Today, he manages and oversees vital business strategies at CFO4Life. He helped grow CFO4Life from a start up to one of the most respected and reputable investment advisory firms in Texas.
